Within the framework of the working visit to Georgia, the Director of the Illinois State Police, Brendan Kelly held an introductory meetings with the managers of structural divisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The Director of the Illinois State Police visited MIA Academy, Human Rights Protection and Investigation Quality Monitoring, Tbilisi Police, Patrol Police, Central Criminal Police and Forensic-Criminalistics Departments.
During the meetings, the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia informed Brendan Kelly about the structure and specifics of the Departments, overviewed the current situation in Georgia regarding the violence against women and domestic violence, crimes with discrimination basis, forensic-criminalistics, organized crime, illegal circulation of narcotics, crimes committed by/against juveniles and other directions.
Along with Brendan Kelly, the Head of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), Sarah Rupert and Senior Law Enforcement Advisor, Eric Siweck attended the meetings.
Throughout the visit, Brendan Kelly visited MIA Academy, laboratory of the Forensic-Criminalistics Department, viewed patrol vehicles and received information about the existing services.
At the end of the meetings, the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs thanked the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) for their contribution to the Ministry’s capacity building.
