The delegation of State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia headed by the Chief of the State Border Guard General Guntis Pujāts – paid an official visit to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The members of the delegation were hosted by the Deputy Minister - Giorgi Butkhuzi.
The meeting in the Ministry of Internal Affairs was also attended by head of the Border Police of Georgia - Nikoloz Sharadze and Director of the Patrol Police Department - Vazha Siradze. Within the framework of the meeting, the head of delegation introduced the newly appointed Migration Liason Officer to Georgia - Raitis Tiliks to the Deputy Minister.
The parties stressed on the importance of existing bilateral cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the two countries and discussed future perspectives. Giorgi Butkhuzi noted that Georgian party highly value efficient and fruitful cooperation with the Republic of Latvia. He also underlined the high level of bilateral cooperation in the field of border protection and expressed gratitude towards the head of the delegation for his strong support in this field.
Within the framework of the visit the head of the Border Police of Georgia, Nikoloz Sharadze, and the Chief of the State Border Guard, Guntis Pujāts signed a partnership agreement “Regarding the Cooperation between the State Border Guard of the Republic of Latvia and the State Subordinate Entity – Border Police of Georgia”.
The members of the delegation also visited the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, as well as Tbilisi international Airport, where the guests received detailed information regarding the work specifics of relevant units.
During the meetings held within the framework of the visit, parties expressed hope that through their joint efforts and intensive cooperation, they will enhance and develop capacities of two agencies even more.
