On 19 May 2019, along with the protection of public order, the police responded to more than 20 specific incidents related to the elections.
Investigation was launched on following two incidents:
- On the fact of committing group violence, by Rovshan Iskadirov and Masahir Goisubov against Takhir Aliev near #31 polling station of Sadakhlo, under Part 3 of Article 1621 of the Criminal Code of Georgia;
- For physical and verbal violence committed against press-media “Sisrop” volunteer operator – Giorgi Rurua at Zugdidi polling station #9. Investigation was launched pursuant to Part 1 of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
For resistance to police (Article 173) and for disorderly conduct (Article 166) five persons were subjected to administrative detention, all of whom have already been released, namely:
- Spartak Kapanadze, Representative of the independent candidate Gogi Tsulaia was detained near Zestaponi polling station #26, under Article 173;
- The activist of Georgian Dream party, Nukri Narmania, was detained nearby #97 polling station of Zugdidi (Koki) under Article 173;
- Nearby the polling stations #87 and #21 located at 7th Public School of Zugdidi, Koba Kvekveskiri, activist of Georgian Dream party was detained under Article 166;
- The representative of non-government organization “Young Generation” (observer), Rusudan Mchedlidze was detained near #1 polling station in Zugdidi under Article 173.
- Giorgi Kapanadze, the Director of information agency – presa.ge and I-TV, was detained under Articles 166 and 173 on Sokhumi Street in Zugdidi. Despite the resistance and requests from the police, he tried to examine the special technical means placed in the police service cars and their trunks by opening the doors and trunk lid of the motor vehicle.
As a result of the examination of up to 10 cases/facts, no signs of offense or crime have been identified.
