On May 7, 2016 on the fact of a conflict which occurred in Oni between the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs the General Inspection of the Ministry conducted service inspection. Consequently, Mr. Zaza Chubinidze, the Head of Tkibuli Regional Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the MIA and Mr. Pavle Bubulashvili, the Head of Zestaphoni Regional Division of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the MIA were dismissed. The Deputy Director of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of the MIA was imposed a disciplinary measure such as a demotion, while the Director of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti Police Department of MIA was reprimanded. The latter, is also, demoted to a lower position.
Accordingly, association of the incident occurred on May 7, 2016 with the Police Day (celebrated on June 2, 2016) as it was circulated by one of the media in the TV announcement is completely irrelevant. At the same time, we would like to emphasize that during the conflict between the former police employees there was only verbal and not physical confrontation with the use of any item (as it was broadcasted by a television channel a truncheon was applied). This is confirmed by the majority of individuals, including witnesses, interviewed during the service inspection carried out by the General Inspection of the MIA. The journalist from Imereti region who first released the information was also questioned. The journalist was not able to prove the credibility of the fact (the use of truncheon).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the media representatives to verify all the information in the Ministry in order not to mislead the public.
