Upon the incident participated by the representatives of the “Georgian Sport Fans” on July 31 of the current year during the football match between Baku “Neftchi” and Sachkhere “Chikhura” in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, the officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs met and held discussions with the incident participants in order to clarify the situation. The individuals involved in the incident declared that they were not politically motivated and did not intend to violate or insult the sovereign rights of any neighboring state.
The fans of Georgian sport realized the political outcomes of their actions and admitted that in future during sport events they will do their best to maximally consider each action in order to prevent any possibility of turning their activity into the confrontation between two friendly neighbor states.
The repeated match between the football teams will be held on August 7, 2014 at 21:00 at M. Meskhi “Locomotive” stadium. The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls all fans to be correct and respect the fans of the visiting team. The Ministry emphasizes that each offender will be strictly punished in compliance with the law.
