Ministry of Internal Affairs flatly denies recently disseminated allegation by various political parties according to which political party candidates are subject of pressure from the side of police forces.
We would like to underline that the mentioned statements are groundless and falsehood. In case if the fact of pressure and intimidation from the side of police is confirmed, they will be strictly punished in accordance with the law. Ministry of Internal Affairs reiterates its readiness to ensure peaceful and democratic environment during the upcoming elections. It is notable that “Guiding Instructions on the Actions of MIA Employees during the Election Period” has been amended and adopted. The mentioned document reflects all legal changes and regulates duties and responsibilities of police officers during elections.
Document envisages responsibilities of the Ministry of Internal Affair, duties of MIA employees and restrictions provided for MIA workers by the law during pre-election period on the day of the elections and after the election, till final results will be announced. In addition the instruction envisages that administrative offences, committed in connection with the election process, demanded and exercised sanctions should be proportional to the committed violation in order to prevent comitement of such offences in the future.
