As it is known to the public, protest rallies are taking place in front of various administrative buildings in Tbilisi. Areas where the rally participants exceeded the limits allowed by the law on freedom of assembly and expression and made attempts to block the entrances of the administrative bodies, the police detained 46 persons in accordance with the Code of Administrative Offences.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures the protection of our citizens’ rights to hold peaceful assemblies and manifestations guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia. It should be noted that according to the Law of Georgia on Assemblage and Manifestations, it is prohibited to block the entrances of administrative bodies and hindering their operation.
As in previous days, the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are mobilized today to maintain public order and security measures as well as to prevent the artificial escalation of events.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on manifestation participants and political leaders to act in compliance of the Constitution of Georgia, respect the professional activities of police, not to exceed the limits allowed by the law on freedom of assembly, follow the rightful requests of the police and observe public order.
Any violation of the law will be immediately foiled by police and followed by appropriate legal response.
