In order to ensure safe and secure environment on 2018 presidential elections:
- Special mobile police groups are created in every region of Georgia in order to ensure security and public order. In case of necessity, these groups will react on every violation of the law in the frames of their responsibilities prescribed by Georgian legislation;
- In order to ensure secure environment for elections throughout the country, distribution of police forces among the regions is ongoing;
- Police officers, who will be on duty on elections day, have undergone special training course organized jointly by the Central Elections Commission and the MIA Academy. This training course, together with practical issues, includes legislation provisions regarding the competencies of police on elections day;
- International Relations Department of MIA is assigned as a contact point for international monitoring missions to send and receive respective information regarding police activities and responsibilities on elections day;
- Legal Department of MIA is assigned as a contact point for local monitoring missions and non-governmental organizations to send and receive respective information regarding police activities and responsibilities on elections day;
- Information on contact points was already sent to relevant international organizations, international and local monitoring missions and non-governmental organizations;
- On elections day, Ministry of Internal Affairs will periodically de-brief population about the possible violations of the law and other issues within the police mandate.
