In Borjomi gorge, during fire-preventive activities the helicopter of the MIA Border Police MI-8 has made an emergency landing while taking water from the water reservoir of Gujarula River.
According to the preliminary information, while taking water from the reservoir, the helicopter was at risk of crashing. As a result of professional and operative actions carried out by pilots, the emergency landing of the helicopter was performed, thus preventing the greatest tragedy. The emergency landing was made in the water, considering that the basket was already full of water.
For prevention and further examination reasons, four crew members of the helicopter are being transferred to the medical facility in Tbilisi. Their lives are not in danger.
Helicopter of the MIA Border Police has undergone technical examination on August 25, concluding that engine of the helicopter was in order. The mentioned helicopter performed up to 600 flights during the fire-liquidation works held in Borjomi gorge. Investigation on the fact was launched under the article 275, I part envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
