The employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of the operative-search measures and investigative activities carried out in the recent period, seized illegal firearms and ammunition in Tbilisi and the regions of the country and arrested 6 people.
As a result of joint operative-investigative actions, the employees of the Detectives Main Division of Tbilisi Police Department arrested N.A. (DoB 1958) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the search carried out on the basis of the judge's decision, the police seized a pistol, 2 magazines and 27 cartridges as evidence from N.A’s house.
Employees of the same divisions also arrested I.L. (DoB 1985) for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the search of the defendant's house, law enforcement officers seized a pistol, a magazine and cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Vake-Saburtalo police main division under Tbilisi Police Department detained N.sh. in Tbilisi for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search of the detainee's residential apartment, the law enforcement officers seized Makarov firearm, 2 magazines and 16 cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Gldani-Nadzaladevi police main division under Tbilisi Police Department detained T.M. (DoB 1984) convicted of various crimes in the past. He was arrested on the charge of illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of a personal search of the accused person, police seized Makarov pistol, a magazine and 6 cartridges as evidence.
Employees of Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia arrested N.K. (DoB 1991) for illegal purchase-storage-carrying of firearms and ammunition. As a result of the search of the vehicle operated by N.K., the law enforcement officers in Tsalenjikha municipality seized Kalashnikov automatic firearm as evidence, as well as 70 cartridges.
The employees of the detective division of Shida Kartli police department detained T.T. (DoB 1962 for illegal purchase and storage of firearms and ammunition.
As a result of the search of T.T.'s residential place, the police seized a firearm and 2 cartridges as evidence.
The committed crimes envision up to 11 years of imprisonment.
The investigation into the facts of illegal purchase, storage and carrying of firearms and ammunition is being carried out in accordance with Article 236, part III, IV and VI of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
