The Ministry of Internal Affairs actively continues an uncompromised fight against illegal circulation of drugs and drug crime in the country. As a result of operational search measures and investigative activities, the employees of the Central Criminal Police Department's Main Division for Combating Illegal Drug Trafficking, Shida Kartli Police Department, Adjara Police Department and Kvemo Kartli Police Department arrested 16 people for drug-related crimes, including 14 drug dealers.
Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department arrested 5 people on charges of illegal sale of drugs: D.B. (DoB 1980), S.K. (DoB 1997) previously convicted A. Kh. (DoB 1982), M.G (DoB 1966) and T.G. (DoB 1979) and S.G.- a citizen of the Republic of Iran, born in 1987, is accused of the attempted selling of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
Shida Kartli Police Department employees arrested 7 people on charges of illegal sale of drugs: Z.Kh. (DoB 1980), G.L. (DoB 1986), previously convicted in past – K.K. (DoB 1957), O.B. (DoB 1965), A.G. (DoB 1990), N.M. (DoB 1981) and A.J. (DoB 1971).
A.M., born in 1965, arrested by Kvemo Kartli police department, is accused of illegal selling of drugs.
As for previously convicted A.K. (DoB 2000), and K.E. (DoB 1998), arrested by Adjara police department, they are accused of illegal acquisition and storage of a particularly large amount of narcotics.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
On the basis of the judge's ruling, the law enforcement officers made control purchases of drugs from the accused persons several times and made secret audio-video recording of the process.
The police seized narcotics illegally sold by the defendants as evidence as well as the money obtained as a result of illegal drug realization.
As part of the investigation, as a result of the secret operational-investigative measures conducted on the basis of the judge's ruling, it was established that the arrested persons were placing drugs in various locations for further sale and were photographing the location of the locations.
The police removed various types of drugs prepared for sale as evidence from the locations indicated by the defendants.
Narcotic drugs were also seized during the personal search of the arrested persons, vehicle and residential house: 626 "Subotex" pills, 220 "Methadone" pills, 150 grams of "cocaine", more than 2 kilograms of the so-called “raw” narcotic drugs. 565 grams of psychotropic substance "Ketamine", 418 pills containing narcotic drug "Mdma", 195 grams of narcotic drug "Mdma" and narcotic drug "Lysergide" (LSD).
The investigation is being conducted under Article 260, Part III, Sub-paragraph "A", Part IV, Part V, Part VII, Article 260, Part VI, Sub-paragraph "A", Article 19-260, part V, subsection "A" article 261, part IV of article 19-261 envisioned by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
