On June 2, 2016 the Ministry of Internal Affairs celebrated Police Day in Tbilisi. The solemn ceremony was attended by Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, the members of the Government and Parliament of Georgia, the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia, the invited guests – the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Lithuania, Moldova and Belarus as well as officials from other countries.
The event was opened by a speech of the Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili. The Minister congratulated the law enforcers with their professional day and wished them success. Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili observed a minute of silence in tribute to the memory of police officers fallen while performing their service duties.
"Today, more than ever, it is important to stand together and through faithful performance of our mission and our commitment contribute to the stability and development of Georgia. We announced an uncompromising fight against crime and in this battle inspiration of each of you is crucial.
I understand that the integrity of police forces has no alternative. That is why, in light of the global challenges, the special importance is given to the international police cooperation. For this purpose, we have deepened our cooperation with partner countries in the fight against crime.
Of course, it is not enough. That's why we are constantly developing in order to come closer to Western standards and properly deal with the challenges.
For me, the main achievement is that the Georgian police, as never before, is the community oriented police. After 2012 police became completely apolitical and this is the fundamental value of the civil society. Yes, you and I are police officers for Georgia and all its citizens - regardless of race, gender, ethnic, political, religious or other affiliation. I would like you to remember it and always proud of it! "- Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili declared.
Mr. Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister addressed the law enforcers with welcome speech and congratulated on the professional day.
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs personally awarded the breastplates and Certificates of Gratitude to the distinguished employees for their excellent performance and achievements in their official duties.
Various structural units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs demonstrated their staff with the technique and equipment at the ceremony dedicated to the Police day.
At the end of the official part of the event, men’s group “Martve” and the Georgian National Ballet "Sukhishvilebi" made performance for the audience.
