The officers of Guria Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs detained 13 persons in the town of Ureki for assaulting police officers in connection with their official duties.
The committed crime envisages from 4 to 7 years of imprisonment.
The investigation established that on June 24 of the current year, the officers of Ureki Police Unit under Ozurgeti Police Division arrested Sh.L. for administrative offense envisaged under articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offences Code and took the detainee to the police administrative building.
Later on, acquaintances of the detainee gathered near the police building, attacked police officers and assaulted them verbally and physically. Law enforcement officers arrested the violators of the crime as defendants.
The investigation on the fact of the assault on a police officer is in progress under article 353 (1) I first part of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
