The officers of the Main Division for Combat Illegal Circulation of Drugs of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of operative and investigative measures, detained in Tbilisi the citizens of Ukraine: M.K. (DoB: 1998) and M.V. (DoB: 1994) on the fact of attempt to purchase, store and sell a large amount of drugs.
The crime envisages from 8 to 20 years or life-long imprisonment.
The investigation established that the detainees were an organized group of drug dealers who planned to sell drugs via the so-called "placing method". The law enforcers seized as evidence the drugs prepared by them for sale and also drugs placed in relevant locations. In total 1000 buprenorphine-containing pills of Subutex were seized. Also, during the personal search of the detainees and search of their residential apartments, the drug methadone was seized.
Investigations is in progress on the fact of attempted illegal purchase, storage and sale of drugs in especially large quantities (sub-clause “a”, part 6 of the Article 260 and sub-clause “a”, part 4 of the Article 19-260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia).
