The officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained 8 people for drug-related crimes in Tbilisi, Adjara and Imereti regions as a result of recently held operative activities and investigative measures, 5 of them are drug dealers.
SN. (DoB 1988), K.K. (DoB 1974), previously convicted and currently on probation -Z.B. 1973, several times convicted in past D.T. (DoB 1970), formerly convicted for drug-related crimes and currently on probation G.K. (DoB 1975) were arrested for illegal purchase-storage-sale of drugs.
MG, (DoB 1988), T.K., (DoB 1979) and a foreign national, I.CH. (DoB 1960), are accused of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities.
The committed crimes envision from 5 to 20 years or lifetime imprisonment.
The investigation established that detainees sold drugs on the regular basis.
Under the relevant court decision, the law enforcers carried out several control purchases of narcotics - "heroin", "suboxin", "methadone" and "marijuana" from the accused persons and recorded the purchase process covertly.
The officers of Vake-Saburtalo Police Main Division, during the personal search and search activities held in Z.B.'s residential apartment (who was detained for selling of drugs) seized- 24 packages of "Suboxin" drug and money allegedly obtained from the sale of drugs. Also, the "Suboxin" drug was removed from the special cache by the law enforcers, already prepared for sale.
The officers of Detectives Division of Adjara Police Department, during a personal search of G.K. seized 9 packages of "heroin" as evidence.
The officers of the Main Division for Combating Drug Trafficking under the Central Criminal Police Department, together with the officers of the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, detained T.K. at the customs checkpoint of Tbilisi International Airport, who was illegally body-packing 250 pills of ecstasy drugs.
Imereti police arrested a foreign citizen I.Ch. in the village of Bashi, Samtredia Municipality. During the detainee’s personal search and search activities held in his car and place of temporary residence, the law enforcement officers seized a heroin in especially large quantities.
The officers of the Central Criminal Police Department seized the following drugs from the house of M.G.: up to 60 grams of "Ecstasy" drug, 1 kilogram and 500 grams of dried "marijuana" and up to 160 grams of "Tetrahydrocannabinol" drug.
Police also seized various types of drugs in especially large quantities and money allegedly appropriated from drug dealing as well as appropriate equipment for marijuana cultivation.
The investigation is underway under Article 260, Parts III, IV and VI, Article 262, Part IV, as well as Article 273, Part VIII of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
