The Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained 4 people for drug-related crimes as a result of complex intensive operative-investigative activities. Employees of the Central Criminal Police Department, Adjara Police Department and the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, as well as the interagency unit for air cargo control, as a result of joint investigative activities held in Batumi, detained a foreign citizen - Kh. L. for illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities. During his personal search, up to 700 grams of "Methamphetamine" drug has been seized.
The officers of the Main Division for Combating Drug Trafficking under the Central Criminal Police Department foiled the facts of illegal selling of drugs through Internet, arrested 2 persons and confiscated drugs placed for further sale at various locations. Foreign nationals have been arrested for the attempted selling of drugs in large quantities. The detainees are: A.B. (DoB 1991) and A.Sh. (DoB 2000).
The law enforcers seized 400 grams of the "Mephedrone" drug and 400 grams of "Alpha-PVP" drug as evidence placed at various locations by the accused A.B. During the search activities held in his place of temporary residence 10 grams of drug has also been seized.
As for A.Sh. police seized 20 packages of cocaine during the search held in his place of temporary residence. Law enforcement officers also seized 16 packages of "Cocaine" placed by A.Sh. for further realization at various locations as evidence.
Police also arrested B.B. (DoB1992) in Tbilisi on charges of illegal purchase and storage of drugs in especially large quantities. During the personal search of the detainee and search activities held in his residential apartment, the law enforcers seized 50 grams of the "Methadone"drug.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of the attempted illegal purchase, storage and sale of drugs in especially large quantities under Article 260, Part III, Subparagraph “A”, Article , Part VI, Subparagraph “A” of the same article as well as Article 19-260, part I, IV and VII envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
