As a result of recent operational measures and investigative actions, officers of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Adjara, Kvemo Kartli and Imereti Police Departments have arrested 23 people on drug-related charges, including 14 drug dealers.
Among those arrested are citizens of Georgia, Azerbaijan, France, Moldova, Russia and Iran.
The following persons have been detained for the illegal selling, attempted selling and preparation of large and especially large quantities of narcotic drugs for selling: G.A. (DoB 1998), G.K. (DoB 1983), T.R. (DoB 1993), T.K. (DoB 1987), D.K. (DoB 1997), N.M. (DoB 2001), O.D. (DoB 2000) and previously convicted persons A.Q., born in 1987, N.K. born in 2000.
Herewith, foreign citizens: R.R. (DoB 1997), A.A. (DoB 1992), M.P. (DoB 1984), E.H. (DoB 1979) and A.A. (DoB 1998).
The following persons were detained for the illegal purchase and storage of large and especially large amounts of narcotic drugs and the narcotic drug "marijuana" as well as for the illegal smuggling into Georgia: J.G., born in 1996, and foreign citizens: S.G., born in 1999, N.S., born in 1993, V.K., born in 2001, V.K., born in 1997, R.M., born in 1992, S.M., born in 1989, S.E., born in 1980, and B.P., born in 1996.
The committed crimes envision up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
Law enforcement officers seized various types of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methadone, alpha-PVP, and marijuana in especially large quantities during personal search and search activities held in residential places, automobiles and locations indicated by them.
As a result of investigative actions, the police seized cash, adhesive tapes, and electric scales, allegedly obtained from drug sales, as evidence.
The investigation is in progress under Articles 260, 18-260, 19-260, 262, 19-273, and 273 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
