In compliance with the decree N1 issued by the President of Georgia, on March 21 “On measures to be taken within the framework of the state of emergency”, Ministry of Internal Affairs, beginning from March 26, started to conduct trial process on distance from temporary detention isolators.
In the shortest period of time, specially assigned places in all isolators throughout Georgia were fully equipped with the appropriate technical equipment. Isolator employees have undergone trainings on software administration and assigned to ensure electro communication with the court.
Based on the issued decree, Ministry of Internal Affairs elaborated a number of regulations with regard to the conducting court sessions remotely from isolators.
On 26-29 March of 2020, 38 court sessions were held remotely from temporary detention isolators.
Considering the threat of spreading of a new coronavirus, decision on ducting remote court sessions is aimed to ensure safety of those involved in the process and provide them with unimpeded, procedural rights.
