The Ministry of Internal Affairs within the frames of the social campaign “For the Sake of Your Security” has joined campaign –“Car-free International Day”. The event was joined by the face of the campaign, champion of Europe Data Kajaia and members of MIA FORCE sport club.
“Car-free International Day” is being held for the first time in Georgia. Within the frames of the campaign bicyclists have started their race from “Rustaveli” Subway and started movement to the direction of “Freedom Square”, ending the race on “Rose Square”.
“I am actively involved in MIA-launched campaign – “For the Sake of Your Security” and I understand that taking care of the environment and promotion of healthy living is the choice that ensures better future for our children and our loved ones. I think that we have to make choice in favor of healthy leaving of our children and future generation, not in favor of our comfort. Road to west begins from this choice and I wish all of us will make this choice!- Stated Data Kajaia, member of MIA FORCE sport club.
This day is marked in a number of countries since 2000. The campaign is aimed to reduce the number of vehicles in the city center to save the environment and targets the popularization of the healthy lifestyle.
On this day citizens avoid using their cars for movement, they prefer walking and choose alternate and ecologically safe transport means.
