Within the frames of the official visit to Moldova, Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze met his Moldavian colleague –Minister of Interior Dorin Recean. Ministers have signed joint declaration concerning the cooperation in the field of European Integration and an agreement “between Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Moldova on the Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorization.” The mentioned agreement will strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of the fight against illegal migration.
At the meeting sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation with regard to European Integration and two countries’ experience in this direction as well as other ways of future cooperation. Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze has underlined the existing, intense and productive cooperation between the law enforcement agencies of Georgia and Moldova and made special emphasis on signing the Association Agreement from the side of Georgia. According to Aleksandre Tchikaidze implementation of Visa Liberation Action Plan (VLAP) is among top priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and therefore it is important to share Moldavian experience.
Before the meeting Aleksandre Tchikaidze commemorated Moldavian police officers fallen in the line of duty and laid a wreath on their memorial.
Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia also met with chief of General Inspectorate of Moldavian Police Ion Bodrug and Head of Border Police of Moldavia. Sides discussed issues of cooperation and future plans. This is the first official visit of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia to the Republic of Moldavia. Members of Georgian delegation are Directors of International Relations Department, Central Criminal Police Department, Patrol Police Department and Head of National Central Bureau of INTERPOL in Georgia. Visit will end on October 7.
