Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze has solemnly opened “Vakhtangisi” building of Border Police third division-“Red Bridge”. Ceremony was also attended by Chief of Border Police, general-major Zurab Gamezardashvili, other representatives of MIA and high-rank officials. The mentioned sector is located on Georgian-Azerbaijani state border.
New border sector building was constructed in full compliance with European contemporary standards. The building is equipped with modern technic and special appliances. The border sector was also viewed by the local citizens and positively assessed newly constructed infrastructure.
Last week Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Tchikaidze opened “Akhkerpi” and “Burdazor” border sectors of Border Police Department. Improving work conditions for the protectors of the state border is among top priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. It is notable that from February of 2014 border guards’ salaries have substantially increased. In 2014 Border Police was additionally funded for building new border sectors on Georgian-Russian, Georgian-Azerbaijan and Georgian-Armenian state borders.
On Georgian-Russian state border three border sectors were built, while 2 were built on Georgian-Azerbaijan state border. On Georgian-Armenian state border four sectors have been built and one more was built on Georgian-Turkish state border. By the end of the current year construction works of 6 more border sectors will be initiated.
