Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Aleksandre Tchikaidze and Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas have signed “The Protocol between the Government of Georgia and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania Implementing the Agreement between Georgia and the European Union on the Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorisation”.
Pursuant to the Article 19 of the Agreement between Georgia and the European Union on the Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorisation, upon the request of EU member state or Georgia, the parties to the Agreement conclude bilateral implementing protocols, which define the provisions for the implementation of the Agreement. Under this implementing protocol, Georgia and Lithuania define their competent authorities responsible for the implementation of the Agreement, as well as their relevant border crossing points, exchange contact points of their competent authorities, determine the procedures of submission of readmission applications, holding of interviews, transfer of readmitted persons, their escorting and transit.
