Minister of Internal affairs held meeting with the representatives of United Nations Development Program and Delegation of European Union to Georgia. At the meeting sides discussed MIA activities related to the Georgian State Border management, existing needs, challenges and future cooperation plans.
At the end of the meeting signing ceremony of the project “Better coordination of protection of the land border between Georgia and Azerbaijan” took place. Project document was signed by the Minister of Internal Affairs Mr. Vakhtang Gomelauri and UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia Mr. Niels Scott. Project implementation has started at the end of 2014 by UNDP, financed by the European Union.
Project goal is to improve operational capacities of the border agencies of Azerbaijan and Georgia and further cooperation between two countries. Moreover, it aims to introduce EU best practices in the field of land border protection.
