The third Steering committee meeting of the EU-funded project on “Technical Assistance to Support Fight against Organized Crime” was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The First Deputy Minister of the MIA, Mr. Kakhaber Sabanadze attended the event, along with the representatives of EU delegation, the project team - members of the “Hulla & Co Human Dynamics KG”, beneficiary agencies and officials from the MIA and State Security Service.
The project has been running since 2018 and will be completed in 2021. The project aims to support the MIA in combating organized crime.
The participants of the meeting discussed the results achieved during the second reporting period of the project and identified the future activities.
The main directions of the project are: enhancing international law enforcement cooperation, strengthening capabilities of the Interagency Coordinating Council for Combating Organized Crime, strengthening Analytical capacities of the MIA, implementing human-rights oriented approaches in the fight against organized crime, combating cybercrime, raising public awareness on the threats of organized crime, etc.
