The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri held his first official meeting with the Charg d’Affaires of the USA to Georgia, Elizabeth Rood.
Vakhtang Gomelauri began his meeting by remembering the 9/11 terrorist attack conquering the United States 18 years ago. The Minister expressed his condolences to the American people. The Minister thanked the US Government for its assistance and cooperation in various fields over the years.
Charg d’Affaires expressed her concern over the circumstances along the occupation line and reaffirmed the United States' unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the ongoing projects at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which are being implemented with the direct involvement and support of the United States. The Minister emphasized the significance of continuing fruitful cooperation in the areas of figh against crime, crime prevention and border protection.
The parties discussed the future plans of the Ministry's capacity building and cooperation in law enforcement.
