Taking into account the public interest, the Ministry of Internal Affairs responds to several facts:
We would like to respond to the fact of wounding of our employee during the incident that took place in “Basiani”, the night club. In particular, on January 13, this year the defendant inflicted a bodily injury with a cold steel to the Deputy Head of the 4th Unit of Didube-Chughureti Division. The defendant also injured two employees of “Basiani” security during the same incident. It is noteworthy that the officer of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was wounded when performing official duties, particularly when he defended two employees of the club during the attack.
We react to all the facts of violence. Consequently, we shall use all the available possibilities envisaged by the law in order to protect the victims, including the people who directly care about our security. The accused was detained at the crime scene. He has been charged with three articles of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The Prosecutor's Office demanded the detention as a preventive measure and challenged the Tbilisi City Court's decision on application of the bail at the Court of Appeal. The law enforcement agencies used all means envisaged by the legislation.
Most importantly, the health condition of the policeman injured in the incident is satisfactory. Policeman Tamaz Saveliev, the Deputy Head of the 4th Unit of Didube-Chughureti Division, who protected the people at the risk of his own live and today their lives are not in danger, will be awarded the medal for bravery by the Minister of Internal Affairs.
We once again reiterate that we will react to all the facts of violence, regardless of who is the accused person. All are equally responsible before the law. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will not allow impunity of any individual attacking the policemen. The dignity and uniform of the policeman will be uncompromisingly protected.
In addition, we would like to inform the civil society about the fact of wounding of juveniles in Khashuri, which was solved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs immediately.
In particular, the detectives of Shida Kartli Police Department and the employees of Khashuri District Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as a result of immediate operative-searching and investigative activities, detained G.Ts – date of birth: 1992 - in Khashuri for premeditated murder. The crime committed by the accused subjects to the term of imprisonment from 7 to 15 years.
The investigation found that the defendant inflicted multiple injuries to two juveniles on the ground of mutual quarrel in the vicinity of one of the restaurants in Khashuri on January 14, this year and fled from the scene. The health condition of one of the injured juveniles is stable, he was subsequently released from the hospital and now his life is not in danger; another juvenile has been operated, he is transferred to the ward and is currently under intensive surveillance of the doctors.
Law enforcers detained the accused in Khashuri in several hours after the incident.
G.Ts has admitted his guilt. Investigation is underway on the fact of premeditated murder, the crime envisaged by the article 19-108 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
