Mr. Kakha Sabanadze, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs opened the regional conference on fight against transnational narcotics crimes. The event is held within the frames of the EU-funded project - "EU Support in Fight against Drugs and Organized Crime".
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the EU representatives for the project successfully implemented in Georgia and for their contribution made in terms of strengthening the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia: “International police cooperation is one of the priorities for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, because transnational organized crime, especially, drug-related crime goes beyond the border of one state and it can simultaneously incur significant damage to public order and security of several countries” – Mr. Kakha Sabanadze noted.
The conference participant law enforcers with practical exercises will improve their skills necessary for their effective performance in international direction and share their experience to each other.
Along with the Georgian law enforcers, the event was participated by the representatives of 11 countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Romania and etc.
The goal of the mentioned project is to improve the fight against drug-related organized crime, to strengthen the capacities of the concerned regional country and enhance the coordination on the basis of the findings of so called “Heroin-Route” project.
