The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Nino Tsatsiashvili, took part in the meeting of the Interagency Coordination Council for Measures against Human Trafficking in the format of a video conference.
During the online meeting, the Deputy Minister discussed the priorities of the fight against human trafficking and the progress achieved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in this regard, including the increase of the proactive investigation rate and the organization of intensive trainings to improve the qualification of law enforcers.
The Deputy Minister also stressed the importance of the introduction of contemporary methods in the fight against human trafficking, inter-agency coordination and raising public awareness.
At the online meeting, the report on anti-trafficking activities implemented in 2020 was discussed, as well as the assessments and recommendations of international organizations. At the end of the meeting, the presentation of the 2021-2022 Action Plan for Combating Human Trafficking was held and approved by the Council.
Nino Tsatsiashvili expressed gratitude to the US Embassy, the EU Delegation to Georgia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for their support in the capacity building of the law enforcement officers through projects and various programs.
