Renovation of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues. Ioseb Tchelidze - Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, along with the head of Emergency Situations Management Service, Temur Mgebrishvili personally held the presentation of the German-made new fire trucks. Firefighting vehicles are fully equipped and constructed in full compliance of the contemporary standards and will be distributed in Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Rustavi and Signagi from 2020.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, employees of the Emergency Situations Management Service and other invited guests.
Designed exclusively for Georgia, new fire technic was built for the rough terrain by German company “Magirus”, considering the relief conditions of the country. New vehicles are distinguished for their mobility and excellent maneuvers. Fire technic is equipped with high and low pressure pump as well as 4,5-ton water and 300-liter foam tanks and all necessary fire-rescue appliances which are fully automated, however it can be operated manually if needed. “Magirus” fire technic is built on “Iveco” car chassis.
Georgian fire-rescuers were familiarized with the specifics of working and operating new fire equipment with the assistance of German instructors and underwent specialized training with qualified trainers.
During the event, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs awarded 15 fire-rescuers for the exceptional courage demonstrated in various emergency situations.
Levan Ogadze, the employee of Akhmeta Fire and Rescue Unit, was awarded with medal for exceptional merits post-mortem, who died in March 12, 2019 at the age of 34 as a result of the accident. The award was handed over to his son.
Special medal was also given to the employee of Special Situations Response Main Division- Varaz Tsotsonava, who has been the employee of the service for 20 years and showed himself as a professional during various emergencies.
