The final meeting of the Steering Committee of the Council of Europe funded project –“Juvenile and Adult Detainees Support (JADES)” was held.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs- Aleksandre Darakhvelidze opened the event and addressed the participants of the Steering Committee with a welcoming speech. The final meeting was also attended by the Deputy Head of the Council of Europe’s Office in Georgia- Vahagn Muradyan.
At the meeting, the members of the Steering Committee summarized the results achieved within the framework of the project in the recent years, as well as planned future activities.
One of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is to protect the interests of juveniles in the administration of justice and increase the efficiency of ongoing legal procedures through their involvement. Working process on creating an environment tailored to the interests of juveniles is going on unceasingly.
The project has been implemented since 2019 in close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia with the support of the Council of Europe. The aim of the project is to train police officers and investigators working with juvenile victims and juvenile offenders, as well as to promote better management of detainees in Temporary Detention Isolators in line with European standards.
