The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Ms. Nino Tsatsiashvili held a meeting with the Head of UNHCR Representation in Georgia, Ms.Kemlin Furley.
The meeting was introductory, within the frames of which the parties discussed the international protection system in Georgia. The parties also talked about the functioning of asylum procedure during a new coronavirus pandemic.
It is noteworthy, that the respective units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs work in an extraordinary regime in order to ensure efficient procedures for asylum by providing electronic and remote services to asylum seekers, as available.
Moreover, all necessary measures are conducted in the accommodation center for asylum seekers with the aim of preventing the spread of a new coronavirus. Ms.Kemlin Furley positively assessed the activity of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the given sphere.
At the end of the meeting, the parties talked about the needs of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and discussed the future cooperation plans.
