The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, held an introductory meeting with Manfred Profazi, Regional Director for the International Organization for Migration Regional Office for South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (IOM SEEECA). The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Ministry and Sanja Celebic Lukovac - the Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission to Georgia.
At the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs informed the representatives of the International Organization of Migration about the activities and current needs of the units operating in the areas of migration and border management within the Ministry. The parties discussed the activities implemented within the framework of their existing cooperation and ongoing projects and also talked about the priority directions of future collaboration.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs and the Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration signed the Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
At the end of the meeting, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze reiterated the importance of the work of the International Organization for Migration in strengthening migration and integrated border management in Georgia and expressed gratitude for their contributions to the capacity building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs over the years.
