Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze held an introductory meeting with the Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Austria Multi-Country Office, Freya von Groote.
The Director of International Relations Department and the Senior Project Manager of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Office in Georgia also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs informed the representative of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) about the activities and current needs of the relevant units within the Ministry.
The parties discussed the activities implemented and planned within the framework of the existing cooperation and ongoing projects and also agreed on the priority directions of future collaboration.
Aleksandre Darakhvelidze emphasized the significant support provided to the Ministry of Internal Affairs within the framework of the EU-funded program - "EU4 Security, Accountability and Fight against Crime in Georgia (SAFE)" - in such priority areas as civil safety, fight against crime and crime prevention, addressing domestic violence and countering cybercrime.
At the end of the meeting, the Deputy Minister reiterated the importance of the work of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in strengthening the security sector in Georgia and expressed gratitude for the contributions made over the years towards enhancing the capacities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
