The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs- Aleksandre Darakhvelidze held an introductory meeting with the newly designated Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Office in Georgia - Mariam Bandzeladze. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze congratulated Mariam Bandzeladze on her appointment and wished her success in future endeavors.
During the meeting, the parties highlighted close and mutually beneficial cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNFPA and agreed on priority directions for improving and strengthening their future collaboration.
The Deputy Minister emphasized on the activities carried out within the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Public Safety Command Center “112” and United Nations Population Fund, including the updated 112 mobile application and raising the awareness of students on early marriage.
At the end of the meeting, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze expressed gratitude to the UNFPA Office in Georgia for its invaluable support in enhancing the capabilities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
