The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia- Aleksandre Darakhvelidze held the meeting with the Federal Minister of Interior of the Republic of Austria- Gerhard Karner, within the framework of his official working visit to the Federal Republic of Austria.
Teimuraz Mghebrishvili, the head of the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Austria, also participated in the bilateral meeting.
At the meeting held within the framework of the official working visit to the Federal Republic of Austria, the parties conferred on matters related to law enforcement cooperation and thoroughly explored the possibilities for future relations. Particular emphasis was placed on the significance of the productive bilateral cooperation in the realm of emergency management. Aleksandre Darakhvelidze extended gratitude to the Austrian side for its significant contribution to enhancing the capacities of the representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The Deputy Minister expressed hope regarding the continuation of these relations.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed an agreement “Between Georgia and the Republic of Austria in the Field of Mutual Assistance in Time of Natural and Manmade Disasters and their Prevention”. This pivotal agreement, provides unique opportunity to further enrich mutual cooperation.
As an integral part of the official visit, the delegation conducted informative visits to the Fire and Emergency Management Center and the Vienna Police Directorate. The visits afforded them comprehensive insights into the operational facets of these units.
At the end of the visit, the parties reaffirmed their unwavering readiness to actively advance bilateral cooperation across diverse domains in the future.
