Mr. Giorgi Mgebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs, along with the deputies and the heads of the emergency service visited the “112” Department on the occasion of the Emergency Telephone Number International Day.
European countries, including Georgia, celebrate February 11 as the "112" Day.
The Minister of Internal Affairs and the guests visited the Emergency Management Call Center and got familiarized with the specific work of the operators and the Department’s future plans. The new social project of the “112” “One Day as an Operator of the “112” was presented on the same day. Within the frames of the project, the celebrities will answer the civilians’ calls to the “112” Call Center during one day. The goal of the project is to give the opportunity to the individuals of various professions to render assistance to the citizens and realize how important is the timely assistance in the emergency situation.
The Minister of Internal Affairs awarded the employees of the “112” with the Letters of Commendation for their exemplary performance and the contribution to the effective operation of the Emergency Management Call Center.
The “112” is operating for four years in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Emergency Management Call Center cooperates with three emergency services: police, fire/rescue service and emergency medical service center. The "112"’s operators work 24 hours a day and render assistance to the citizens in emergency situation throughout the country.
