The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, held a meeting with the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Dunja Mijatovic, paying an official visit to Georgia.
Within the framework of the meeting, parties discussed the policy of the Ministry with regards to protecting human rights in recent years.
Vakhtang Gomelauri stressed the measures implemented in the field of the fight against crimes committed with signs of discrimination as well as the importance of cooperation with the Council of Europe in the direction of raising competencies and qualification of the employees of the Ministry.
The Minister of Internal Affairs expressed his gratitude to the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe for supporting democratic processes in Georgia.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Director of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights - Claudia Lam, the Adviser to the Commissioner - Olena Petsun, and the Permanent Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe - Irakli Giviashvili.
