Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri and Head of State Security Service, Grigol Liluashvili along with their Deputies attended the memorial service held at Sameba Cathedral Church of 13 people transferred from the occupied territory of Abkhazia and expressed condolences to their family members.
The remains of 13 people, who went missing during the 1992-93 conflict in Abkhazia, including 8 military servicemen and 5 civilians, have been transferred from the occupied territories of Abkhazia and identified.
The remains were recovered through the joint efforts of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and the International Committee of the Red Cross, within the framework of a bilateral Georgian-Abkhazian coordination mechanism.
Up to this date, the remains of 563 people have been found under the mentioned mechanism, out of which, 191 have been identified.
