As a result of operational measures and investigative actions, officers of Shida Kartli Police Department, as a result of operational measures and investigative actions, arrested previously convicted I.O., (DoB 2002), for tampering with computer system and unauthorized access to a computer system for the purpose of obtaining financial gain.
The committed crime envisions imprisonment from 6 to 10 years.
The investigation established that the accused person, in order to obtain financial gain, illegally took possession of the personal pages of various citizens on the social network “Facebook”, after which, using their names and surnames, he contacted various persons and asked them to borrow money. The accused I.O. illegally took possession of the money of several citizens through the aforementioned criminal scheme.
As a result of investigative actions by law enforcement officers, 25 affected citizens have been identified at this stage.
The investigation is underway under Articles 286 and 284 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
