The Head of Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia - Nikoloz Sharadze and the Director of the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia- Vazha Siradze participated in the high-level meeting between the heads of the border management authorities of the EU pre-accession partners and European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) Management Board that was held in Warsaw.
Within the framework of the event, the representatives of the Ministry held a bilateral meeting with the Executive Director of Frontex, Mr. Hans Leijtens. Throughout the meeting, current issues of cooperation have been discussed, as well as the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen the cooperation.
Georgia, as the EU pre-accession partner, for the first time is participating in the abovementioned format meeting together with the other EU partner countries.
Within the framework of the meeting the state of play in the region regarding the integrated border management, implementation of Status Agreements between Frontex and the partner countries as well as the return and readmission issues have been discussed. Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs highlighted the existing successful cooperation between Frontex and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including fruitful cooperation on the issues of the implementation of the EU-Georgia Readmission Agreement.
