With the active involvement of police attaches, Ministry of Internal Affairs closely cooperates with partner country law enforcement agencies within the frames of international police cooperation.
Cooperation with German law enforcement agencies with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, has been particularly fruitful. As a result of sharing information and active communication, the two agencies have solved a number of criminal cases.
In the history of police cooperation between Germany and Georgia an unprecedented and large-scale activities have been conducted.
The officers of Central Criminal Police Department and Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti police Department along with General Prosecutor’s Office, as a result of operative-searching and investigative activities, detained G.Ch. (DoB 1986) who was wanted by Interpol under the red notice. He is accused of armed robbery and murder under the aggravating circumstances that he committed while being in Nurnberg, Germany.
Based on the Documentation sent by the German side the officers of Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti police Department launched investigation. It was established that detainee and his accomplice (who is serving lifetime imprisonment in Germany) broke into apartment located in Nurnberg, tied up victim's hands and legs with a cord and other materials, covered her head in blanket and rug, due to which the victim was suffocated. Detainees stole 2 500 USD worth watch and fled from the place of crime.
As a result of the expertise held at Munich University’s Institute of Forensic medicine it was established that detainee left his DNA trail on the body as well as on knife, furniture item handle, mobile phone and on two rings owned by the victim.
Investigation is in progress on the fact of murder committed under aggravating circumstances and armed robbery.
Detainee will bear punishment in accordance with the acting legislation of Georgia.
