The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Butkhuzi and the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania, Andrius Kalindra opened a solar power station on the parking lot of the administrative building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia at Noe Ramishvili street.
Solar panels of the station will reduce the expenditure for the electricity by 23% per year, taking into consideration the current costs.
Saving administrative costs is the priority for the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Hence, every year old type light systems are gradually substituted by modern, energy-efficient light bulbs in the buildings of the Ministry and infrastructural projects are implemented in such way as to minimize the usage of electricity and natural gas by introducing modern technologies.
The project was implemented by a Lithuanian company - "Saules Graza" JSC, within the Climate Change Program, co-financed by the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. It aims at minimizing the usage of energy resourses to a maximum extent, as well as at transferring Lithuanian knowledge and experience for climate change mitigation by integrating state-of-the-art solar power technologies in Georgia.
The project was implemented with the coordination from MIA International Relations Department and MIA Logistics Department.
