By initiative of Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili one of the stages of the World Touring Car Championship will be held in Georgia
Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Mr. Marcello Lotti, the Founder of the World Championship - TCR International and Mr. Shota Apkhazava, the President of Rustavi International Motorpark concluded a trilateral cooperation agreement.
According to the cooperation agreement, Georgia will host one of the stages of the World Championship – TCR International in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
"Hosting of such level competition in Georgia will further accentuate our country at the world sporting map; Georgia will receive additional streams of tourists in the country and will become an interesting country for sports tourism. In addition, visit of such high-level athletes in Georgia will be yet another vivid confirmation for the youth of Georgia that via healthy way of life, hard work and devotion to the profession one can achieve great success. Another keynote of the competition to be held in Georgia is traffic safety. Each of us should be well aware of the importance of observing all traffic rules in real life and unconditional obeying of all traffic signs. Our passion and adrenaline should be spent on motorparks and specially designated areas in order not to create danger to others, and of course, to yourself. For our sake, for our own safety, "- said Mr. Giorgi Mghebrishvili.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Tariel Khechikashvili, the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and other invited guests.
After signing the agreement, the Minister of Internal Affairs and the president of Rustavi International Motorpark discussed the details of the World Championship match to be held in Georgia.
The signing ceremony was also attended by the racer of the sport club of the Service Agency of MIA and the face of the road safety campaign of the MIA – Mr. Data Kajaia, whose successful performance at the World Championship took a special interest of the organizers of TCR International.
Mr. Marcello Lotti, the Founder of the World Cup - TCR International and Ms. Nunzia Corvino, the Sports Director of the World Championship visited Georgia by the invitation of the sport club of the Service Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. During the first introductory visit the guests discussed with state officials perspectives of conduct of one of the championship`s stages in Georgia.
The motordromes of the world`s different states host TCR International throughout the year. The tournament has several million fans and is broadcasted on leading sports channels.
