Delegation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia visited Artvin, Province in the Republic of Turkey within the framework of an official working visit. The delegation was comprised of the Director of the Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara - Grigol Beselia, the Director of Samtskhe-Javakheti Police Department - Giorgi Bukhrashvili, the First Deputy Chief of the Border Police - Gocha Janjghava and the Deputy Director of the Patrol Police Department - Guram Davitashvili.
Within the framework of the visit, bilateral meetings were held, which were attended by the police chiefs of Artvin, Ardahan, Rize and Trabzon provinces of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey. Bilateral meetings were also attended by Giorgi Mezvrishvili- Georgian Police Attache deployed in the Republic of Turkey, and Consul General of Georgia in Trabzon - Gela Japaridze.
The mentioned visit was held within the framework of the memorandum signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Turkey on strengthening border security. The purpose of the visit was to discuss current issues in the direction of border security and cooperation between the law enforcement units of the bordering regions of the two countries.
Within the framework of the bilateral meetings, the parties focused on the importance of cooperation in the field of law enforcement between the bordering regions and defined future prospects.
At the end of the visit, the Georgian law enforcers expressed gratitude towards their Turkish colleagues for their hospitality and invited them for the follow up visit to Georgia.
