Informational-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to publish monthly results and presents statistic data on foreign visitors entering Georgia for February, 2014. In the last month of 2014 294 043 visitors crossed Georgian State border. To compare recent results with the same period of the previous year the number of visitors has increased by 0.8%. As for the January-February interval 613 542 visitors crossed Georgian state border which is more by 7,3% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.
In accordance with recently activated gradation scale the results are as follows:
A) Tourist - 230 696 visits (increase of the total number has reached 37,6%, to compare recent results with the previous year, when the number of visitors has increased by 12,6%);
B) Transit - 100 921 visits (increase of the total number has reached 16,4%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by 38%);
C) Other - 281 925 visits (increase of the total number has reached 46%, to compare recent results with the previous year when the number of visitors has increased by -4%).
In February of 2014 the most number of visitors has crossed Georgian state border from Turkey (- 24,7%) Azerbaijan (+20,6%) Armenia (+16%) Russian Federation (+31%) Ukraine (+48,4%) and Iran (-36%). Similar positive tendency is preserved in connection with countries of European Union, where the number of tourists from Poland, Lithuania, Italy, Latvia has substantially increased, reaching 145%, 24%, 22% and 16% respectively. Number of tourists from middle Asia, namely from Kazakhstan has increased by 20%, while the number of tourists from Eastern Europe, namely from Belarus has also increased by 51%.
