In compliance with the Law of Georgia on Police the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the purpose of crime prevention and public order carried out special police control throughout the country.
As a result of police control carried out on February 18-19, 2016 by the Central Criminal Police Department and territorial units of MIA 3 wanted persons and 1 citizen of Russian Federation illegally residing in the country were detained.
101 criminal cases were revealed, among them:
- illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of firearms (Article 236 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 20 cases;
- illegal purchase, keeping and carrying of drugs (Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 15 cases;
- repeated use of drugs (Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 24 cases;
- stealing (Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia) – 28 cases;
The law enforcers revealed 769 administrative offences among them:
- illegal use of drugs (Article 45 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 71 cases;
- minor hooliganism (Article 166 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 7 cases;
- disobedience / hooliganism (Articles 166 and 173 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 38 cases;
- carrying of cold weapons (Article 181 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 34 cases;
- drinking alcoholic beverages in public places (Article 171 of the Administrative Offences Code) - 30 cases;
589 different offenses.
As a result of the police control the law enforcers seized 4 automatic rifles, 1 rifle, cut hunting gun, 5 pistols, 57 hand grenades, 4 capsule-detonators and 732 cartridges of different calibers, also 73 pills of "Subutex", 1 packages of "buprenorphine", 5 packages of "bio", 6 pills and a piece of "subutex”, 3 gr. of heroin, 2 packages of marijuana and 1 package of vegetative mass were seized.
Accordingly, 37 individuals were detained for criminal offences, among them: 11 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 7 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 236of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 14 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 177 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 2 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, 2 persons for the crime envisaged by the Article 353 of the Criminal Code of Georgia and 1 person for the crime envisaged by the Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
