The officers of Ajara Main Division of the Patrol Police Department detained Turkish citizen Topak O. (DoB 1983) for attempting to take migrant covertly across the state border, while another Turkish citizen Kenan D. (DoB 1979) was detained for illegal crossing of Georgian state border at “Sarpi” customs.
While examining Topak. O’s “Ford” made vehicle in the neutral zone of “Sarpi” customs patrol police officers noticed a passenger hiding behind the packed clothes in the cabin. Law enforcers detained both of the Turkish citizens after having conducted relevant legal procedures.
Investigation against Topak O. is in progress on the fact of attempting to take a migrant covertly across the state border (article 19-1344, I part) while investigation against the passenger (migrant) is in progress on the fact of illegal crossing of the Georgian state border (article 19-344, I part) envisaged by the Criminal Code.
