The head of Patrol Police Department David Tsinaridze along with head of Tbilisi Main Division Shalva Bareladze visited a patrol-inspector Levan Kapanadze who was injured during a disaster that occurred in Vere valley and wished him speedy recovery.
On June 13th, during the disaster, the officers of Tbilisi Main Division patrol-inspectors Levan Kapanadze and Levan Natidze were in the line of duty patroling so called new road in Vare Valley. They noticed that due to heavy rain the citizens needed help. The water on the road was gradually reaching excessive level. Patrol-inspectors assisted people to leave the cars and transferred them to safer areas. There were children and elderly people among the passengers, as well as one pregnant woman. It became necessary to urgently transfer the pregnant woman to the safe zone. Patrol-inspector Levan Kapanadze decided to rescue the woman by a patrol car but a strong current of the flash waters prevented him from doing so and he was carried away in an unknown direction. Patrols and rescuers who reached the disaster affected area rendered first aid to the pregnant woman as well as other citizens.
Search activities for missing patrol-inspector were carried out for several hours by his colleagues and rescuers. As it lately appeared, Levan Kapanadze’s car had been carried away by a strong current of water. The car was found in the canyon near “Mziuri” park. The rescue teams managed to rescue the patrol-inspector from the car in time. Levan Kapanadze was transferred to the hospital by the ambulance. For the time being, his health condition is satisfactory.
