The Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at the request of the Traffic Department, ensures safe movement of vehicles and trucks on specific road sections of the country. In addition, in order to protect road safety, patrol police crews regulate the movement of vehicles both in Tbilisi and throughout the country in round-the-clock regime.
Due to heavy snow, ice-slick and avalanche threat the movement is partially prohibited:
• Traffic movement on Goderdzi Pass is prohibited for all vehicles. Movement is allowed only to the resort;
• Movement on the Vaziani-Gombori-Telavi road is allowed only for off-road vehicles.
• Traffic is prohibited for trailers and semi-trailers from the 1st to the 40th kilometer of the Gomi-Sachkhere, Chiatura-Zestaponi mainl highway.
• • Akhalkalaki-Kartsakhi section is closed for trailers, semi-trailers and vehicles with more than 30 seats.
• In Shida Kartli, near Agara, patrol police stopped trucks moving to the direction of Russia.
• Due to the avalanche danger, all types of vehicles are prohibited on the Mleta-Gudauri-Kobi road section. Traffic is also prohibited on the Stepantsminda-Larsi highway.
• In the direction of Zugdidi-Jvari-Mestia, due to the avalanche danger, the movement of all types of vehicles is restricted.
Restrictions on movement have been lifted in some regions by this time:
• On the territory of Rikoti;
• On the bypass road of Tbilisi;
• Trailer traffic was restored on Natakhtari-Khunev section.
