Otar Ghvinashvili, Senor Detective of Sagarejo District Division of Kakheti Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who was killed during the attack on the night of January 20 while on duty, was buried with military honors.
The deceased police officer was escorted on the last path by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, his deputies, chiefs of various units of the Agency, colleagues and relatives.
The honor guard paid tribute to the memory of the deceased officer with special volley and handed over the state flag of Georgia to his son after the funeral.
Yesterday, before the funeral ceremony, the civil memorial service of Otar Ghvinashvili was held in Tbilisi, where the Prime Minister, together with the Minister of Internal Affairs and members of the government, paid tribute to the memory of the deceased officer and personally condoled to the family members of the deceased.
According to the decision of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Otar Ghvinashvili was awarded with first degree medal of the Ministry - "for special merits".
